The History Department of Princeton University, located in neo-Gothic Dickinson Hall, offers course work at the undergraduate and graduate level in a large number of fields. A traditional strength has been pre-modern European history, but the department has established a substantial reputation for its expertise in the history of the United States, East Asia, Latin America, Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and the Near East as well as in the history of science . It offers graduate training in the history of all parts of the world from late antiquity to the present. The presence of approximately 60 faculty members enables the department to provide general survey as well as specialized courses. Members of the department are also involved in a remarkable array of interdisciplinary programs, such as African Studies, American Studies, the Ancient World, East Asian Studies, European Cultural Studies, Hellenic Studies, Italian Studies, Judaic Studies, Latin American Studies, Latino Studies, Medieval Studies, Near Eastern Studies, Russian and Eurasian Studies, South Asian Studies, and Women and Gender.
